The Three Steps to Live in Care
A desirable alternative to moving into a care home, live in care can support you to stay independent in your own home, surrounded by familiar comforts. If you opt for Live in care, an experienced carer will move into a spare room in your home, providing you with the care you need, when you need it.
At Sarah’s Carers we want to make sure we arrange the right carer for you – the following steps help us to achieve this.
- Care Consultation
After an initial call where we get to know you and chat about your needs, our team will carry out a detailed assessment to create your care plan. As part of this assessment, we will ask you what you feel you need help with; review your medical records (always with your permission); talk to your family and friends if needed; and conduct a basic home check.
Our team will then work with you to build a bespoke care package based around your needs, wants and wishes. We appreciate that circumstances can change, and this plan will be regularly revisited and amended throughout your duration of care.
- Meet your Carer
We will then review our database of carers to match you with a suitable carer. At Sarah’s Carers we understand that it can be a difficult decision to allow somebody new into your home, so we will try to place you with a carer who shares your likes, dislikes and interests where possible – for example, if you love gardening, we will try to match you with a carer who does too!
Once we have chosen your carer we will introduce them to you via a face to face meeting, video call or a telephone conversation. If, after your initial meeting, you don’t feel like your chosen carer is a good fit, we will address your concerns and take steps to find you a different carer.
- Your Carer Arrives
On your first day of live in care, your carer will arrive at your home at a pre-agreed time. We understand that live in care may be a new experience for you, and so you may be feeling nervous. A member of our friendly office team will meet with you and the live in carer at your home to ensure everything is running smoothly.
After you and your carer have settled in and have got to know one another, our team will continue to check in regularly and make sure you are both safe and well.
